Stephen > This is the perch I received within about an hour of arriving in Llano, Texas to photograph these wintering eagles. It turns out that this was about as cooperative as they were going to be this day. The rest of my eight hours were not this good, but I did have a wonderful time conversing with other birders and simply observing these majestic birds. December 2007.
Stephen > This is a male American Kestrel I found at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, near Austwell, Texas, November 2007.

Stephen > The mergansers at a pond in the Las Colinas area of Irving were quite skittish. After taking a few images of this one, it quickly took flight to avoid my prying lens. Irving, Texas, November 2008
Stephen > This fine whooping crane gave me a nice pose so I took the shot under partly cloudy skies at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, near Rockport, Texas. The cloudy skies again brought out the yellow the eyes in this whooping crane. November 20, 2007.
Stephen > In this photo, one can see the irrigation canal into which the vermilion flycatcher was diving to grab its prey. I was lucky in that it decided to perch a bit on this small, short stick so I was able to include the canal. Fennessey Ranch near Bayside, Texas, December 2008
Stephen > I am trying to work on obtaining images of these graceful fliers feeding from plants. Here, I was fortunate enough to obtain this image of a ruby throated hummingbird getting nectar from a Lantana plant in my backyard. Midlothian, Texas, August 2008
Stephen > This Bewick's Wren was flitting around this hackberry tree in my yard and allowed me this rather close approach before flying off to another tree. My DOF here is a bit shallow, but I still like the photo. Midlothian, Texas. March 2008.
Stephen > This is a ruby throated hummingbird. It was perched in a twisted willow tree in which the hummingbirds love to spend time for some reason. I caught this one though in between branches. Midlothian, Texas, September 2007.
