Stephen > Red Tailed Hawk caught perching in Grand Prairie, Texas.  She allowed me to get very close because she was fixated on some prey below her I believe, Feb. 2007.
Stephen > The hawk of the songbird world; This is a Loggerhead Shrike that I photographed here in my hometown of Midlothian, Texas.  It is a year round resident, but I seem to see more of them during the winter months.  December 29, 2007.

Stephen > The white pelican was just soaking up the rays on a pier in Rockport, Texas.  He did not mind my close approach although he kept an eye on me.  November 19, 2007.
Stephen > I just love the fact that there are several nesting pairs of Mississippi Kites that have chosen an area of my hometown to which they return each summer.  This is one sub-adult I believe that recently returned after spending the fall and winter down south.  Midlothian, Texas, May 2008.

Stephen > Photographed November 20, 2007 on the small outer islands at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, near Rockport, Texas.   It was toward the end of the tour when we finally found some whooping cranes close to the shore with sone decent light even though the light produced some dark shadows.  The flock had just arrived from its breeding grounds in northern Canada.
