His parents, John and Margaret were from Ireland.

She actually brought suit against the Mexican government in the 1920's for back wages owed to her husband who worked for the Mexican railroads even after Mexico nationalized the industry during the Mexican Revolution, 1910-1920. She was born in Pennsylvania and her parents were from England.
