Hummingbirds : These are hummingbirds from primarily my backyard but there are a few from other parts of Texas as well. They are all ruby throated hummingbirds with just a few images of a black-chinned hummingbird and a buff-bellied hummingbird.

Wrens, Waxwings, Gnatcatchers and Thrushes : A collection of wrens, thrushes and waxwings. These are some very colorful and active birds. Like many other birds, their songs are especially nice. I am particularly fond of the wrens' songs.

Your Bio

The name is Stephen Pollard and welcome to my amateur photography site, Capture the Pixel.

My photography hobby has given me a renewed interest in the environment, flora and fauna. The beauty contained therein is simply awesome and something I wish more people would see so they too could become better advocates for the environment. After all, this the only Earth we have. What you will see here is primarily bird photography. Birds just have this ineffable quality that I like to capture in all its digital glory. The birds you see are a result of walking around outside looking up and down, left and right. I like to get out and look around to see what I can find always looking for that perfect shot! I have visited bird blinds on some great ranches or parks, but mostly, these are pictures of birds without set-ups or blinds to aid my photography. Having said that, I love to use blinds! Some of the shots one can obtain in the blinds are amazing and really show off the beauty of whatever animal wanders to the blind.

It's funny. Many people with whom I talk say they are amazed by all the wildlife so close to them. They just didn't realize what was around them. I guess that is one my goals; to show people what wildlife is around them and how they can appreciate it just like me.

Look around and enjoy. I like sharing the pictures just as much as I like taking them. Don't forget to click the "Map This" icon to see where I took some of the photos. I have tagged many of these photos with a geotag to show where they were taken. Additionally, if you like the photo, the upper right hand corner has a thumbs up or down icon that you can click indicating that you like the photo. Please click the thumb icon because I like seeing which photos visitors like the most which, curiously enough, are not always the ones I like the most.

If you would like to purchase some of my photos or use them in any way, SmugMug offers a great printing service that will mail the photos right to your doorstep.

If you would like to contact me, please do so. I'd love to hear from you.
